Modular Exhibition Structures for Schloss Hubertusburg
Architecture students from Dresden Technical University, enrolled in the Architecture and Structure Design Studio at the Chair of Structural Design, are currently developing lightweight, ephemeral structures for multifunctional pavilions utilized in and around Schloss Hubertusburg. The design process and outcomes will be showcased in the exhibition titled “WaterSchool: A Speculation in Four Seasons.”
The transient nature of these structures serves as the foundational point for both the physical and conceptual examination of the design task. Thoughtful integration into the historical surroundings, architectural expression, and structural behavior of the building must be carefully considered throughout the design process. The objective is to generate holistic design solutions that amalgamate architectural and structural considerations into innovative and distinct forms.
Students are encouraged to conceive modular design solutions that can be adapted to various spatial configurations to accommodate the diverse functions and requirements of fairs, temporary exhibitions, and other summer venues. These solutions can range from smaller pavilions to larger exhibition spaces. In addition to emphasizing lightweight structures, the solutions should be simple to assemble and allow for efficient storage during the winter season.
